Renacimiento through November 10 at Jean McDonough Arts Center

So, so, so grateful to El Salón and Casita Cultura Latina for putting out an open call for Renacimiento (Rebirth), an art exhibit in downtown Worcester as part of Día de los Muertos events, and including my painting of birds in flight.

From their shared Instagram post announcing the show: “Renacimiento is an end and a beginning. As old life passes on, new life may take flight. In our ‘renacimientos’, there may be grief, longing, nostalgia—but there is also new hope, light, excitement, and discovery. This exhibition celebrates culture and the resilience of the spirit through paintings, collages, photography, poetry, and more.”

El Salón and Casita Cultura Latina held a show opening on November 1 with great vibes and fabulous conversations.

I snapped just a couple of pictures that night, and here’s what I wrote over on Instagram:

“I am so, so, so bad at taking pics inside an event because I am deep in the moment, but I snapped a quick couple of photos from outside on my way in so that I wouldn’t come home with nothing but memories.

This is just the tiniest sliver of the magic on the walls and in the room, so if you can… go see it allllllll for yourself thru November 10!

I’m definitely feeling the Renacimiento in the air lately, and the artists and organizers who put the work in and made this show happen are leading a whole Renacimiento in the Worcester area that is buzzing with energy. This is the first event I’ve been able to attend, but I see the news of the fruit of their work *everywhere* so if you want to know rising creative community, keep your eyes on all the cool things @_el_salon_ is up to!!

Thank you, El Salón and Casita Cultura Latina, for including my artwork in this show.”
